Since I was young I have kept a written journal and have
found it almost therapeutic to write with no intention of editing. I loved the
honesty I conveyed as I would write and wished that I could produce the same
sincerity with my drawings. I was self conscious of my sketches and often
erased or ripped out pages. This past year I have tried to sketch in pen and
ink in an effort to make myself get to a more honest place and to stop being so
critical. I have seen my work improve with my efforts and have found the same
satisfaction I do as I write.
